### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ good substitute for a small yurt

After setting up this tent and using it for a few months, I was inclined to give it three stars. I never spent more than $100 on a tent before... at a cost of $600+, my expectations were high. There were many little details that disappointed me... the worst of which were the instructions. It was like a riddle. Very little effort was put forth by the manufacturers to draft user-friendly instructions. ups and downs aside, I went with four stars because ultimately I got what I wanted. It just required extra effort (i.e. building a wooden platform, buying extra hardware, buying extra ropes and anchors to hold the tent in place... another $300 in materials.) the fabric is very strong, which is the biggest plus. Be careful around the seems though. I ripped a corner as I pulled it tight prior to staking. the hardware is weak. the stakes are tiny and plastic... I doubt they could hold such a large tent if the wind blew hard. the three support poles are difficult to get into place, and they don't feel sturdy until you batten down the entire structure. I was definitely afraid of bending them by accident. the three support-poles must root securely on the ground, yet the manufacturer must have forgotten this step. the center support-pole sits at 90 degrees, but the two side supports sit at an angle, and they will slip out if not anchored to something. the manufacturer does not provide guidance or hardware to address this. Although it's a big space inside, the overall design is very spartan and utilitarian. If you are looking for something more sexy, go with the yurt-style. The main opening on this trek tent is blocked by the main support pole running vertically, making the entrance narrow and awkward. you're definitely not getting a sofa inside. for a semi-permanent structure, it works great if you're willing to put in the extras. but if you need quick setup and takedown, this is not for you.
