I bought the recommended diode and it worked perfectly first time with the Nest and is really loud which I like. (I configured the Nest as an electric chime with a 3 second timer). Problem solved! CONS: + the bell is large (6" diameter) and bright red. I plan to paint it to match the wall. + the mounting plate is a little hokey, but it worked for me. It does not come with screws.
