Review: THIS ONE! GET THIS ONE! - Amazing quality for a crazy low price. If you’re interested in learning, this is the choice you’re looking for. It’s held tuning amazingly, it feels nice, it’s definitely well built, and it just looks good! Great choice for beginners or shredders who want to learn classical! Great size, doesn’t feel awkward, and it sounds incredible. Only had to tune up after opening it, the strings it came with were good but I had ordered some extras knowing they’ll be needed.
Review: Highly recommend for someone wanting to learn guitar. Worth the extra money. - I'm a beginner guitar player who has tried several different guitars. This is the one to get if you're trying to learn. The nylon strings make it easier on your fingers as you learn. And this Yamaha is a lot better quality that some of the cheaper options. Well worth the extra. Tunes up nice. Stays in tune mostly - which is good. I'm sure it's normal for it to get slightly out of tune as the strings stretch a little - especially with new strings. Comfortable to use. Action is good. Some of the other guitars I've tried had a large gap between the strings and the fret - making it more difficult to play. But this one has a smaller gap - which I like.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: solid wood or laminates? thanks**
A: It is neither solid top nor laminate (formica type). It is laminated spruce (plywood with spruce as the top species. It sounds quite good.

**Q: I've ordered c40ii, but the label inside the guitar says c40. is it still c40ii? how do i distinguish these two?**
A: The C40II that I ordered says "C40" on the label as well. I called Yahama and asked them because I don't know my woods well enough to tell if the sides and back are mahogany or not. They seemed to be surprised that the label just said "C40" but they looked up the manufacture date from the serial number and it is a C40II because it was manufactured in 2019. This may not be the case for your guitar.

**Q: Is the full size still smaller than an acoustic guitar?**
A: A classical guitar is an acoustic guitar. This is a full sized classical guitar. I am assuming you mean compared to a steel string. In that case you would need to be more specific as there are several standard sizes for steel string guitars (standard sizes as in, not even getting into all the different sizes of travel guitars and 3/4 sized guitars, etc). The Jumbo and Dreadnought steel strings are much larger than a full sized classical guitar. Beyond that it gets a bit complicated as it isn't fully standardized and different companies will have different names for similar or even the same size/shape guitar. Many use Martin's convention: 0, 00, 000, OM (from smallest to largest, all smaller than a Dread, which is smaller than a Jumbo). Those that don't, typically, a Concert will be roughly the same as a 00, a Parlor guitar is an 0, Taylor's Grand Auditorium is bigger than an OM but may be a little smaller than a Dread (it seems pretty close), an Orchestra is an OM, etc. Then it gets even more complicated when you get to the fretboard and scale length. The classical has a wider fretboard than any steel string, it has fewer frets... Then there is the question of where the fretboard meets the body...

So, bottom line, a classical guitar is a different animal than steel string acoustics. Body size is probably closest to a Concert/00 body steel string, but you will have a much wider fretboard but with fewer frets. The fretboard is also flat on a classical and slightly rounded on a steel string. So, if you are just starting, don't go by paper measurements, go to the store to try them out to see what fits you best (if you can play a little) and if you are a total beginner than go with your teacher's advice. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, some will have to do with your hand size, but a lot will depend on the style of guitar you'd prefer.

**Q: What is the soundboard made from? Plywood or solid wood?**
A: I cannot say for sure, but whatever material was used it sounds pretty good for the price.I know what I am saying because I have compared it to my takamine and Cordoba classical which are more expensive and the sound is not faroff
