I think we're using 33 gallon size. As a side note, the manual says there are hooks/tabs inside the bin that are there to hold the liner, but we found it easier to drape the liner over the bin itself. It doesn't look as pretty, but it minimizes the shredded paper that ends up on the floor. **Q: What is the warranty time period by the manufacturer?** A: I purchased C149-D and while the warranty was stated in the Instruction Manual there was no information as to how to return the item or how to contact customer service (instructions state to call Customer Service). Did anyone else have the same experience with the documentation? I thought that was a little odd so I contacted Amazon and was told that the warranty is usually upheld with the manufacturer but if they are unwilling to work with you, Amazon will generally work with you to honor the warranty. We've shredded cardboard as well as lots of paper and it's held up without any problems. It has been oiled regularly, but we have put it to very good use since we purchased it. It's no louder than other shredders - my husband and I aren't bothered by the noise as it's easy to hold a conversation while shredding. The shred is cris-crossed, making nice tiny pieces for our worm composting.
