So I looked in the mirror and I looked like that Cartoon Monkey D Luffy, without intent, for all I was looking for was the Lifeguard style hat to block the sun like real sailors wear on their boats. Another question I was wondering, the liner. It's a 1" very thin nylon band like any hat would have. Not no where as thick as a baseball hats that puts a mar I see on some folks foreheads. Fact, if I watch a baseball game, i feel sorry for those fashion caps, cause they cook my brains out. All I can tell is ORANGE means the Billabong 2.25" patch has a orange embroidering boarder around it circumference. Review: XLRG for sure, but that's what I need - I like the simple style of this hat. I found that the cord is comfortable against my skin and beard. The cord latch is easy to use and holds securely. I wore the hat at the slightly windy Bolsa Chica beach here in southern California and it would have kept the sun off my head if the sun had decided to come out that day. The hat survived the wind no problem. The weave of the straw is not real tight, so a bit of sun does make it through the cracks. I'm not bald so that's ok for me. The top most peak of my hat has a few bits of straw that have cracked and peeled. That's not a big deal, yet, and I hope it never becomes a big deal. The outer perimeter of the underside of the hat has a lot of free straw ends that can catch on things. It hasn't been a problem yet, but I can see how it could be.
