I ordered this product from another online retailer (Vitacost) and in their cart it clearly states "This product will be shipped cold." It arrived with a strong ice pack. I called Vitacost and asked whose policy it was to do that. The rep told me that it is required by Now Foods to ship the probiotics with cold packs. Well, I wanted to confirm this and I just called Now Foods and spoke with the right department. The Now expert said that used to be their policy but about 3 years ago they changed their policy. The product does not need to be shipped cold at this time, however it needs to be refrigerated when you receive it. I don't like to have probiotics shipped to me in the intense summer heat, so he recommended buying enough product in the spring to last until the fall/winter and just store it in the refrigerator or even the freezer and it will keep its potency.I'm actually impressed that Vitacost ships the Now probiotics in cold packs. I am a bit concerned about Amazon warehouses because a couple of weeks ago a seller posted Amazon's seller guidelines that stated their warehouses can reach 100 degrees so supplements that cannot withstand that temperature should not be stored in Amazon's warehouses. I don't want to believe this because I purchase a large number of my supplements from Amazon and have always assumed their supplements are kept in a cooler in their warehouses. This type was recommended to me. I've had good experience with NOW brand in general, at least with their Vitamin D noticably raising my blood levels of Vitamin D. I was afraid that this bottle would be dead on arrival, bc it doesn't come refrigerated or cold - and it took two weeks to come (in spring 2018 - I guess it's lucky that this year it's still going down to 40 dregrees F at night where I live, even in late April.) Anyway, once I got these I put them in the fridge and have been taking one a day on an empty stomach...how do I know something is happening? There has been a sudden onset of gas - every single day (I've been taking them for about a week or two). I know the cause doesn't have to do with anything else, bc I haven't changed my diet or anything else. Luckily I work for myself, from home - but the increase has been so sudden that I had to google "probiotics farting" (go to quora and type in "Why have I started farting a lot after taking probiotics?") and sure enough saw that there is a connection. So these are definitely not dead and are doing their thing.
