Review: So easy to use for the less mechanically minded! - I purchased this item on the basis that my wife's car sounded as if it was struggling to start, no doubt after fewer journeys during Coronavirus lockdown, and testing the battery before it conked out completely might save the eye watering cost of £400+ for a new one - start/stop batteries ain't cheap! I am not a car mechanic by any stretch of the imagination, and there are many cheaper battery testers available on desertcart, however this one appealed to me because as far as I could tell, all you need to do is attach the crocodile clips to the battery (the tester tells you if you get them the wrong way round!), and follow the instructions on the screen - type of battery (EFB for mine) measurement standard (CCA), if the battery is connected to the car or not, and off it goes! There are only 4 buttons, so you really can't go wrong, and it tells you if your battery is good, needs recharging, needs replacing, is damaged, or needs to be re-tested when disconnected from the car. In my case, the battery needs a recharge, so that's £400+ saved, thanks very much!! For those of you who want to go further, you can put your battery through a more thorough test by starting the car with the tester still attached to see how the voltage drops and recovers, so effectively, as far as I can tell, you are also testing the starter motor and alternator, and you can even print out the results so you can show them to a proper mechanic!! All in all, I can't fault this little device - as I said, not the cheapest, but certainly not the most expensive (there is one over £100) but it is robust and the crocodile clips are well made and have a strong grip, plus the screen is bright and easy to read, plus no batteries required as it is powered from the car battery. Highly recommended, 5 stars through and through.
Review: A lot of functionality and useful information provided for the money. - I’ve always been a little suspicious of garages and retailers free car battery test facilities. So when I became concerned about the condition of my 7 year old start/stop car battery’s health over lockdown and aware that a multimeter can only tell me so much about a battery’s true condition, I decided to finally purchase my own dedicated car battery tester. After a lot of research, watching many YouTube review and instructional videos for this and the Ancel BA301 which appears to be identical I decided to purchase the Konnwei KW650 car battery tester. It appears to offer a lot for the price. Three test functions, a relatively large and surprisingly good quality LCD colour display screen with the ability to test both 6v and 12v battery’s as well as the option of uploading test results to a computer and subsequently hardcopy print off. Whilst I think the test data upload and printout functions will be useful, it’s a shame only one test result can be stored on the tester itself. The crocodile clamps appear good quality together with the cables which feel robust and flexible. The case appears to be made of a robust plastic with little or no flex or squeaking when pressed. The included pouch is a nice touch but it could be a little larger. Stuffing the tester, usb cable and instruction manual into it is a little challenging taking a lot longer than it should. I’m not the most patient individual so I suspect I’ll soon replace it for something larger. The free, lifetime firmware update facility should aid longevity of this tester. I found installing the BTLink utility onto my laptop relatively straightforward. I updated the testers firmware using the included usb cable before using the tester and found this too to be straightforward. On first use, whilst it doesn’t provide as much information as some of the top professional models, it does provides a surprising amount of useful information quickly and at a fraction of the price of the professional versions. At the same time, it appears to also offer a simpler traffic light based, ‘green - battery good’, ‘amber - battery poor/recharge then retest’, ‘red - replace battery’ LED and text based report at the end of each of the three test functions. In fact, I was surprised and impressed by the inclusion of both the internal resistance and the measured cold crank amperage readings in the ‘battery test’ function. The inclusion of the cranking time and minimum voltage drop readings in the ‘cranking test’ function are also a useful insight into the battery’s condition. I haven’t used the tester long enough to have a view on it’s likely robustness but as previously stated, the firmware update, the case and the good quality cables gives me the impression this tester will take some abuse without breaking anytime soon. Overall, whilst it costs a little bit more than some other models, it was cheaper than the identical Ancel model and the additional functionality, colour screen and pc connectivity I think make it well worth the extra money.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy to use but not so sure about consistency.
*by E***R on 23 October 2022*

For automotive tools go this may not beexpensive but wish I had this at the beginning of pandemic lock downs rather than towards the end. Lack of use of cars meant the 12V lead-acid batteries ran down rather quicker than anticipated. Bought and replaced battery on wife's car. As my car had a recent battery change was disappointed with it so sent it back for investigation to see if mine was a dud but before that had to get a battery for the car so as to avoid internal rechargables batteries (there must be many for the various sensors) from going flat. The battery dealer rejuvinated the first one. So now have 3 batteries between two cars so wish I had this before we inadvertently drained the batteries. Anyhow, this meter is easy to use. However, probably due to inexperience rather than fault of the meter (or the car battery) the results were not consistent, or so it appeared. However, after lock lodwn ended and cars being used weekly (or put on a charger weekly) results became more consistent. Whether batteries were healthier, me being more experienced in using the meter, not conclusive. All I can say is the meter would give me earlier warning to go get the battery topped up on the charger whereas previously I relied on a multimeter only, so guess the multimeter was late to give me a warning. If your battery is nearly dead, then this won't work as it takes energy source from the battery you are testing to pwoer it up.
