Power pro HC, JB HC, Toro and cortland all make HC lines that splice much easier and are are far more uniform.Then there are the hard crusty bits in the line......sorta like the gobs of goodness found in power pro 4 strand 20 years ago.......I wasn't expecting Gosen 16 levels of slickness...but it's not even on in the same timezone....Returning for refund. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy Splicing! *by F***E on Reviewed in the United States on January 14, 2018* I have not yet fished with this line so that is an important reference. I was looking for something thin but spliceable to use as fly line backing. Being 16 strand I figured this would allow splicing and it does. It actually splices very easily and is the thinnest line that I have spliced. It is a very 'soft' line and I don't yet know how that will translate into abrasion resistance. I am wondering if I should order more in a larger diameter because this is probably thinner than required. We have over a foot of ice on the water here so fishing is several months in the future for me, will come back and edit when I know more about how well it works. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Don’t splice with this stuff *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on August 27, 2018* This line is smooth and handles well. I don’t have any very good way to check the breaking strength, but am ready to believe that it is ok. The problem with this line, at least for splicing is poor control over the spindle tension during manufacture. When threading a needle up the center, there are loose sections and tight sections and some so tight that you cannot open the line up and therefore the threading cannot go forward. Pretty frustrating to just about finish a splicing loop, hit a tight spot and have to cut it off and start over. So if you are going to use this like standard braid, you will probably like it. However if you were buying hollow core so that you can splice, I believe you will be disappointed. I should mention that My experience is with 50#. Heavier lines may not have this problem.
