The light sits inside a soft rubber mount bracket and angle is held by pressure and friction with the rubber mounting rings (have not tried in the rain yet). At 500 lumens (full power) it is bright enough. Yeah we would all like 1000+ but here we are at 500. It's enough. I have been really impressed at how stable the light is. It doesn't seem to bounce around and be distracting to your night vision. The light is a NON-adjustable wide flood. It is very easy to carry a second battery for back up power and is an easy change on the fly.
