My heeler does not chew her food so this definitely helps to keep the plaque down. My border collie chews his food which helps, but his teeth remain absolutely perfect because we use it every single night while brushing their teeth. Our vets are always floored by their teeth! I will say that my heeler is a bit smaller and it's more difficult to get her back teeth with a tooth brush which requires the occasional dental cleaning, but we've only had her teeth cleaned once and we are coming up on another one. This paste really helps us keep on top of her.
