It's not top of the line either but you will get value for your money and that's important.Not world class optics...the image is a little fuzzy around the edges which is a dead giveaway that it's not a Leica. However, the image in the center is crystal clear.I backed way off...probably a hundred yards and aimed it at a small pot of flowers for the test. As crisp as ever. Dittos for a tree further off. I could make out each individual leaf. Bright picture with the sun out. The focus fit my eyes fine with my glasses off.It comes with a dinky little tripod that you wouldn't want your children playing with but it's perfect for my purposes. My purpose was to beat the high price of a really good spotting scope for fairly rare use.Having read the reviews I was struck that no one, even to the seller pointed out the obvious. It makes a dandy spotting scope on the shooting range (for the occasional enthusiast to be sure). It's compact....you don't have to ALSO lug a delicate armful of scope into the field. Small footprint and all that jazz. For my use the compact tripod is also perfect.So now I own an aid I wished I would have had 40 years ago and I don't feel guilty about it sitting in the closet gathering dust for 364 days out of the year.If you like to travel light or don't want to break the bank for a gee-whiz spotting scope then this is for you. It works well as a sight glass or low powered telescope. Light transmission is good, so you can see fairly well when lighting is not the best. The optical quality is ok, with excellent clarity in the center, but objects not in the center of the view are fuzzy (and I don't mean with fur!). The biggest letdown was the smartphone mount. The support arm is thin plastic which does not support the phone well, and it is held onto the telescope with friction only. The focus control is not very precise, and the tripod mounting socket is a bit too shallow, so it does not attach to the tripod securely.
