I have very fair skin and it has protected me well from the very high UV sun rays here. The actual UV rating I have no idea but it has kept me from getting burnt and I burn very easily. **Q: I see several low star reviews say that the umbrella broke in a short period of time. Those of you who gave 5 star reviews, how long did yours last?** A: I've had mine for over a year, but I've only used it 6 or 7 times. Mostly for sun shade at desert events, but I used it in the rain once. It has held up beautifully, and it's a big hit! I absolutely love it! It was a bit small for rain, didn't cover as much as a normal umbrella, but, I looked amazing! Lol! I probably wouldn't use it if it were really windy, just because I like it so much, I wouldn't want it to get messed up.
