The flowers are light lavender. These are delightfully unusual, almost like nothing else that I have seen. They are generally very easy to grow. You have to try hard to kill them. **Q: Hello! I was wondering how to care for these bulbs. What pot size, soil, lighting, and watering should I use?** A: These are very easy plants to grow and care for. Think about the size pot you might get an African Violet in. If you use that size pot, fill it almost to the top of the pot with potting soil that drains well. (Walmart, Target... sell small bags of potting soil.) Get a pencil or something about the size of a pencil and poke the pencil into the dirt a little deeper than the bulb is long. Stick the bulb into the hole in the dirt. The more bulbs you put in the pot, the more full the plant will look. It would be hard to put too many bulbs in the pot. Once you have put in as many bulbs as you want to, water the dirt well. I water until water seeps out of the bottom of the pot. You may need to put a little bit more dirt in the pot once the water soaks in. I water the pot once a week and I give it water until the water seeps out of the bottom. (Put the pot on a dish or something like that so the water that drains out can still be absorbed by the plant.) Put the pot near a window and watch it grow. One of the nice things about this plant is you can tell when it needs to be watered because the stems will begin to droop. If you forget to water it, don't worry, once you begin watering it weekly, it will begin to grow again. **Q: are these the non-invasive type? (stay in a clump, does not spread all over yard like bamboo...)** A: Yes. They are really easy to grow and no,they don't invade the area ratio they grow .. Actually I would like the wild spreading to be a issue with this one! **Q: How quickly do they have to be planted? Looking to give as Christmas gifts.** A: I planted mine within 2 wks. I would suggest planting them closer together than is recommended on the package as only about 50% of mine germinated. I bought mine as an indoor houseplant so as long as they are kept in good light I think they are OK to plant in the winter time. They have beautiful deep purple triangular leaves that fold in the evening. I love them and will probably buy more. They gave me a partial refund for the missing amount (I sent a picture as verification of what I received). But due to Amazon's policy they couldn't send me a new one. Not only that but this was the first time I had a review that didn't post. I was not rude or vulgar and even stated that I would update my review once everything was said and done. Fast forward, I reached out to the company. THEY WERE GREAT. They not only apologized, refunded me the full amount, but let me keep the original bulbs I received. However, they stated I would need to reorder what I originally wanted. They even clarified that the mistake would not happen twice. Nervous because I'm a Hungarian penny pincher, I trusted that representative and they were true to their word. I received what I ordered and not only that... EVERY BULB BLOOMED. Listen people, if you know anything about gardening.. there is going to be duds no matter how well you care for the bulbs. I read that people complained about how small the tubular were.. well thats clovers for you. I separated the large ones and they ALL bloomed with the exception of MAYBE 3. My goal of my front yard is to have a blanket of shamrocks similar to Muir woods. The bulbs are good with this company. Update: I have now ordered from this company 4 times and have had success with each batch. The second and third picture is the recent progress. Eventually the entire area will be a shamrock ground cover. I noticed they do best with partial shade so you may try that and make sure not to over water. Update on the 7th order: Since I can't leave a new review, I have to add on to an old one. This last time I ordered two batches of the Oxalis Regnellii 'Green Lucky Shamrock, they were dried up, shriveled and brittle. One package of 20 had 16 and that's being generous. Most of the "bulbs" were scraps. Before I could reach out to the seller but now I can't find a contact email to complain and request a replacement. This is disheartening as this was the only place I could find these bulbs. The worst part, they sent these to me and others and thought it was ok. They used to be $20 a pop, now they are $14.95.
