So with it being raining I am usually soaked. The boots stood up for 3 days as waterproof. On the third day they soaked through. Since then I have dried them out well a few times. As soon as they hit water now they soak right through. Whatever waterproofed these was gone in under 10 miles. **Q: Is the material natural leather or synthetic leather?** A: The nubuck type material is merely decorative. The main body beneath is a cross weave nylon that looks like rip stop material. **Q: Are these really waterproof up to the ankle? How long can they be submerged before taking in water?** A: I have not tested this. I have walked through a couple inch deep puddle - no problem. I have bicycled in a hard rain and my feet stayed dry.
