Review: Great jacket but have realistic expectations! - I don't normally write reviews, but I saw several negative ones because it's not "100% waterproof." I really like these jackets! I bought one a couple of years ago, and this is my second one because I liked the first one so well and wanted a different color. That being said, will it protect you in a torrential downpour? No. It will act as a windbreaker, and it will keep drizzle to moderate rain off of you. Will it keep you dry on a 10 mile run? Maybe, but not if it rains hard enough. But, this is a packable jacket. I have a packable jacket from The Northface that cost 5 times as much, and it also won't keep you dry in a hurricane! It's a great product, but you have to temper your expectations with common sense. If you want emergency rain protection in a thunderstorm, find a poncho that you like the style of, or try using a waterproofing treatment on one of these (I've not tried it, but it could help!). If you want a decent jacket that has some rain protection, you could definitely do worse than these!
