If the mouthpiece is very closed (1mm tip opening or less is typical of student setups) or if the student is very strong, these may be too weak. In my experience (20 years and hundreds of students), most students outgow them in a month if they practice and many have to switch to 2.5s much sooner if not start there (especially students that apply a lot of force to the mouthpiece). Better bet to buy a vandoren sample pack of 2s and 2.5s and you'll be covered for all eventualities. They sell sample packs of 4 reeds each.. **Q: Do they come in a reed guard?** A: Pictures in my listing shows the open box, with plastic guards. 8 new ones only. **Q: What is the return policy on these reeds?
