The swing often has 2 adults on it with no problems so far. **Q: Can this be screwed into a metal joists?** A: No, this is wooden screw and only for wood beams **Q: What size pilot hole do I need?** A: The description of the product says that the screw is 8 mm or 0.31 inches (more than 1/4" and less than 1/3"). I measured the set I ordered and that checks out. So, the pilot hole should be smaller than 1/4 inch (you want to have some wood for the screw to hold on to). References I have read suggest a 7/32" pilot hole is appropriate.
