## Overview

The HELLA 002425811 HLMP Kit features 55W halogen bulbs with advanced European optics designed to replace 5 3/4" sealed beam headlights. Sold as a pair, these headlights deliver superior brightness and a wider illumination pattern for enhanced night driving safety. Compatible with 12V systems, they offer a direct fit for vehicles with round headlight openings, making them an ideal upgrade for classic cars seeking modern lighting performance.

## Description

HELLA's Vision Plus conversion headlights adapt European technology to US lighting standards and driving conditions to produce superior headlight units that replace your dumpy, ineffective old 5 3/4 in. round or 146mm rectangular headlights. They produce the brightest, most powerful light possible--right at the legal limit--without increasing glare. More importantly, their precise optics produce a much longer, wider, larger, and better illuminated pool of light in front of your vehicle. You'll love the improvement. In addition, they have replaceable bulbs, so you don't have to buy a whole new unit if one burns out.

Review: Great safety upgrade for older cars with 4 headlights - DO IT - Great improvement over the grim sealed beam headlights that came on US-model automobiles in the 1970s-1990s. I can't say how much brighter these headlights are compared to the sealed-beam units, but I notice better light on dark rural roads. I upgraded the high/low units with Hellas a couple of years ago, so now I have a complete Hella system on the front on my 34-year old BMW. Hint 1: many web pages say you need to install relays, heavier wiring, etc before you install H1 and H4 bulb units. This may be true for American and Japanese cars, but German and Swedish cars came with lights like this on European models and were de-illuminated to comply with DOT standards for USA models. So the Hellas should be install-and-plug-in for German and Swedish cars. Sealed beam bulbs were probably a good idea in the 1930s and 1940s, but they did not keep up with technology, and these replaceable-bulb headlights are clearly superior. Hint 2: the warning sticker says not legal for road use. I have used H1 headlights on various cars since the 1970s, and no policeman or DOT inspector ever cared whatsoever.
Review: Very bright, easy to install. - These are bright and really update my old vehicle. You WILL need a separate wiring harness to provider power. In my old VW, the harness (from a 3rd party site) was about $45 and installation was easy. Install the lights without plugging them up. Connect the special harness to one of the low beams plugs from the car you would normally connect to the headlight. Them connect the other plugs from the new harness to all 4 bulbs (2 low beams, two high for a Scriocco or BMW). Connect the two ground wires and then connect the power lead from the new harness to the battery. When you turn on your lights, the Hellas will get additional power from the battery and your original wires will not get cooked.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: what kind of amperage do these draw?**
A: They take a standard 55w H1 bulb.

The 55-Watt Halogen draws 4.5 amps per light. There is an equation we can use to determine amperage when watt rating and input voltage is known. Amperage equals Watt Rating divided by Input Voltage which is typically 12.8 volts in automotive applications. So 55 watts divided by 12.8 volts equals 4.30 amps and your specific charging system may output slightly more than 12.8 volts.

**Q: What type of materials is the glass and the casing made of?**
A: I lived in Germany for 3 years, and before that I had used European headlamps in all of my vehicles, BMW E30s, Porsche 944, Mercedes-Benz 300s. I the design of these are slightly different from the 1980s and 1990s H4/H1 systems--the bulb now has a US style bulb cover over it--but they still give a good light distribution on low beam with a sharp horizontal cut-off (but not the 15 degree upsweep to the right) and appear to be ECE spec with glass lenses. High beams are very good but I would recommend using the H4s with auxiliary driving lights if your vehicle only has one pair of headlamps

**Q: Does anyone know where to find replacement dust boots for these?**
A: we have them, contact us

**Q: 1969 Skylark with a low and high beam on each side - which kit(s) do I need to convert both low beams and both high beams (four lights total)?**
A: These are the kits I got for my 82 corvette HELLA 002425811 135mm H1 High Beam Halogen Conversion Headlamp Kit & HELLA 002850811 135mm H4 High/Low Beam Halogen Conversion Headlamp Kit I had to do a little grinding on the buckets but they worked well. I would recommend doing a relay mod and larger gauge wires. if your car takes the same size lights as mine these should fit

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pricey But Worth It
*by C***D on September 13, 2024*

1971 Buick Riviera. I didn't like driving the car at night with the standard Wagner sealed beam halogen lamps I bought when I restored the car. I replaced them with these Hella products: Hella 002425811 Hlmp Kit 5 3/4" 135Mm H1 12V Ece Hella 002850811 Hlmp Kit 5 3/4" 135Mm H4 12V Ece What a difference! Yes, the front face of the lamps is flatter than original, but no one has noticed. They have noticed the wire harness and relays I installed to switch the power, but I wanted the option to upgrade to 100W bulbs in the future. In the attached video, these are the standard H1 and H4 bulbs. The reflector assemblies fit in the bucket with the factory retaining rings, however, I wasn't able to use the dust boots and will have to take out the headlamp buckets and do a little opening so the dust boots will fit. I'm eyeing up an old C2 Vette to tour the nation with and I will definitely order these again so I can see at night.
