They are 3rd class aged between 8 and 9 years. To date we have being looking and respondng to other people's poetry and making whole class poetry. I used this book as a stimulum for inspiring independent writing. I played it while they were dong an art activity. They really enjoyed the author speaking to them and as planned, they started bringing in their own poems the next day without me askiing them to. This was a perfect set up, leading us nicely into poetry writing class, which is coming along nicely. So thank you. They make my students laugh out loud and inspire them to write their own silly poetry. My boys especially love them. This books has empowered my boys to be poets! They love the gross or weird poems and then are excited to write their own. It can be challenging to get boys to write and this book is a big help.I also love the CD. During the month of April (poetry month) we listen to Kenn Nesbit read a poem each morning. It starts us off with giggles and motivates us to write our own funny poems.
