I'd like an inexpensive watch that's fairly accurate.** A: It is VERY accurate considering the cost! I have an "atomic" watch which gets the daily correction signal from WWV, I don't like to wear it every day because it is big and clunky but I used it to set my Casio watch and I just checked and, after over 4 months of use, the Casio is only 2 seconds behind the atomic watch! I'd call that pretty accurate! Apparently, mine is a bit more accurate than some others, but all seem to agree, for the money it's very accurate. **Q: Is the case succeptable to scratches and scuffs over time and reveal the actual metal underneath?** A: It is a very durable composite material no metal in the case. Yes it will scratch but it isn't supposed to be a dress watch. I wore my first one for 10 hears and finally broke the case where the band fits in . I used the wrong band with no give in it. Have worn these sinch high school and I'm 63. Has a low profile, not big and gaudy. Has which most do not is the DAY of the week, AWESOME! and deal breaker for me. This one seems a little thicker than the older, which I don't understand. New band is thinner than the old and fits a much larger wrist. The old watches lasted MUCH longer than the bands. Will see if this one does also, I think it said a 10 year battery life. Only thing I really do not like is the second bars. It has a display of incremental bars for each second.
