Comparative measurements are easy. The target works well in daylight even though your eyes cannot see the red laser. Nice loud beep tone. I went through the set-up "adjustment" phase (simply rotating the head 180 and then 90 to compare measurements): It was nearly dead on. For grading use, this thing is within 1/4 inch over 100 feet. And, it runs forever on two D-cells. I lucked out and got a mint reman unit for about $60 less which works perfectly. Nice big storage case too. Will come in handy when installing plumbing and power lines in shop.
