Quite a disappointing gift! When I contacted the seller, they advised me the feather is extremely stretchy and just to force the cord through. Although this is more difficult to do than it sounds, it was indeed very stretchy and it worked. Once the feather is on, it will stay where you put it on the cord, instead of sliding freely, so it goes cockeyed while being worn but my daughter doesn't mind. The stretchiness makes it a squishier softer chew, which she likes. I removed a star because, seriously, it's a cheap move for the seller not to just prethread the feathers themselves or use a thinner cord...or include an explanatory note at a minimum!
