## Description

The Morakniv Companion is an all-in-one knife made for outdoor enthusiasts. Equipped with a patterned, high-friction grip, it’s comfortable to hold and easy to handle. It also features a 4.1-inch (104 mm) blade made of 1095 carbon steel that reaches a hardness of HRC 58-60. High-carbon steels are preferred in applications that demand durability and can be easily re-sharpened when needed. The Companion MG performs well during high-impact tasks, like creating tinder or cutting wood. When used in wet applications, the blade should be dried thoroughly to prevent blade corrosion and may exhibit a patina or natural discoloration over time. You should also clean and oil your off-grid knives regularly, especially after contact with acidic foods like oranges. Includes a military green sheath with belt clip.

Review: I Recommend the Companion - Not sure how anyone could give this legendary knife a rating under 5 stars. People are really weird. This is my second ever real knife purchase after the Opinel 9 and 10... the Morakniv Companion from Mora, Sweden. Yet another legendary knife brand with a long history; they have been making the same basic knife design for over 130 years. Considered the best value knife ever produced. Almost 400 million are produced every year, making it the most widely distributed knife on the planet. Pretty wild. It's referred to officially as a bushcraft knife but can be used for about anything. Available with a stainless steel or carbon 4.1" blade. I opted for the carbon blade as usual but will also be getting the stainless version for kitchen duties. Really, really cool knife, really, really cool design, very ruggedly built, very comfortable grip. Comes with a waterproof polymer sheath, perfect for Florida's humidity. Also, very sharp right out of the box. This is now my default fixed blade knife for regular outdoor use and abuse. I recommend the Companion.
Review: Great knife for the price! - My first experience with Mora knives came in the mid to late 80's when I found their wood handled blades at a local hardware store for $5-6. I bought a few and actually used them as throwing knives, lol. This was before I knew anything about knives. I do remember the steel on those blades and the edge they kept. Short of physically damaging the blade, the edge took every bit of abuse I could throw at it (or throw it at). Sure I chipped a few tips off and nicked a couple edges during my attempts to learn how to throw, but the steel took it in stride. The undamaged parts of the blade remained razor sharp for months of abuse. I don't know what happened to those old blades of mine, but when I saw the line of Mora knives on desertcart, my memories came flooding back. I knew I was going to buy at least one to see if my memory was as good as I remember on these knives. While I seem to remember the blade thickness was quite a bit thicker back then, this current knife looks like it is keeping the tradition alive. The factory edge is scary sharp. Time will tell if it'll keep the edge like I remember it. I'll be using this knife as my general camping blade this season, and if it holds up to the work load like I think it will, I'll be buying a couple more for my survival kits. The generous grip fills my fairly large hands, and the soft black rubberized handle offers a firm hold. Time will tell if it gets slick when wet, but the contour of the handle feels like it will be easy to hold regardless of the conditions. The hard plastic sheath holds the blade firmly without risk of it coming out before you need it. The sheath holds the blade so firmly, in fact, that I'm very cautious removing the knife. I don't think the clip on the sheath will fit my MOLLE webbing as it is 1.25" wide. Unfortunate, but not a deal breaker. Bottom line is this is a solid knife with an amazing blade that, if history holds true, will keep an edge for a very long time.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Why can't you ship to Ventura County, CA?**
A: I come across this a lot. Sometimes it is seller dependent, try other vendors. Other times it is the shipping location, especially if it is a po box (often a prop 65/ haz. material label meets algorithm or rule) Try a amazon locker (works best for me), home adress or friends adress.
If none of these work, welcome to the 1984 plutocratic technocracy Eisenhower warned us about.

**Q: is this knife good for salt water?**
A: No! This knife is made of carbon steel and will rust. There are other versions of this same knife such as this one (http://www.amazon.com/Mora-Companion-Stainless-Steel-Fixed/dp/B004ZAIXSC/ref=pd_sim_sg_8 ) in stainless that would be much better suited for use around salt water.

**Q: Is this knife full tang?**
A: It's about 2/3 of the way down the handle, but do consider that it's half the width of the blade, which is thicker than the tang on a Ka-Bar.EDIT: This page has a diagram of the tang.http://www.moraofsweden.se/morakniv/companion-mg-50.0.202.2?group=prod_prod_grp-s1%2F41

**Q: how sharp does the knife come??? Does the sheath keep the knife held in place??? Will the back of this blade work with my fire steel??**
A: The knives come sharp and hold an edge. The sheath holds the knife snug and the knife snaps in. I use mine as a neck knife. I filed a flat edge on the back of the blade next to the handle for that purpose and it works well. I love these knives and own several. I have given a lot away and everyone has loved them.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great knife for the price
*by N***S on January 29, 2018*

This is a great for the price you get. Well made with good materials. This knife is a good example as to how quality doesn't always have to be expensive. This little guy makes and excellent camp, hunting, and over all woodsman knife. Great for use around camp such as carving, and light bushcraft use. Pros: -Good quality High Carbon steel. I believe it is a 1095. Which is a popular and well received steel, and is absolutely wonderful if heat treated proper which these knives are. -Keeps a sharp edge. I used this thing to carve a walking stick, and a few other items for quite some time. Still had a sharp edge. Not razor sharp, but still very usable durable edge. -Excellent price. You can buy knives of similar quality for 50+ easily. Not to say you shouldn't get those knives, but if you are on budget, or are looking for an excellent knife to give as a present then these are great. Cons: -Since it is a carbon steel it will rust if you do not oil and maintain it. Though if want to be serious about bushcraft and survival knives you better get used to that because ver few stainless steels are really able to take on the task a carbon steel can. -It is not full tang; meaning the steel does not go through the whole handle and instead a good 3/4 of the way there. This is why I say light bushcraft. I wouldn't do any heavy batoning with this is basically what I'm saying. -The sheath will get bent and warped over time with extensive use Main the part that leads up to the belt clip. though this isn't that big of deal since it still works just fine. It's just not as nice as it was brand new. All in all I love this knife and I find it to be an excellent addition o my collection.
