I have been a blacksmith for many years, having produced many Damascus steel blades of many different patterns. In fairness I have not made, not do I have the equipment to produce stainless steel Damascus, as this knife claims to be.Under microscopic examination, his knife is clearly mechanically etched to simulate a Damascus pattern, with little effort expended to make it appear authentic. Further, VG-10 contains cobalt, which gives the steel a characteristic hue. The seller claims that this knife is VG-10 sandwiched between stainless Damascus. An examination of the life's spine should reveal this layering under the microscope, but actually reveals a single piece of steel.It is my considered, professional opinion that this knife has not been made from what it claims, not used the construction methods claimed.My rating is based on this.Otherwise, it appears to be a well designed chef's knife with good quality hande, blade shape, and delivered with a fine edge.
