this will save your chickens and chicks

*by S***A on Reviewed in the United States on May 27, 2019*

I use this whenever any of my chicks get sick or don't look so well. A tablespoon per gallon for a few days, unless it is a virus, and they are well again. If your chick k is very sick, a few ml directly into their mouth twice a day will cure them within a few hours.

No one with chickens should be without this, gentler than other cocci treatments but works better (and for other animals too!)

The problem with the evolution of chickens in our lives as that many products are still made for them as though they are meant to live short lives, to lay eggs and then be eaten. For those of us who actually love our chickens, chemicals that hurt them but make them fine to eat after living a couple years are no longer an option we wish to have. Finally, studies have proven that shavings such as cedar really are toxic to them and now people care about that, and people care about how they treat them for illnesses.I prefer preventative medicine first so that I never have to treat them. However, that's not always possible since I also rescue fowl.(The best preventative for them is to put raw organic apple cider vinegar in their water often...just a small amount is a dewormer and does far more.)Sulmet was used in the past to cure cocci (a parasite) but it's quite toxic to their little bodies as it does it.What is cocci? It is very common. Many chicks are born with it as it is passed down. It can be in the soil as well and caught many places. It's a top killer of baby chicks but if you don't give your baby chicks medicated feed to kill the cocci it can lay dormant and then multiply later in life when they are stressed such as during a hot spell, and kill them with no warning. So, even though I choose to go naturopathic and organic all the way, my baby chicks all get medicated starter feed to kill cocci they are born with. That said, if a young hen comes to my care and I see the bloody stool and loose stool associated with cocci, this has to be on hand. It is a better treatment that is more mild to their bodies.Their water needs to be changed daily so they have fresh medicine daily...1 tsp per gallon of water.5 daysAfter the five days, I put a couple tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in their water to help them feel better. If you don't treat, the cocci eat away the intestinal lining and multiply rapidly...and because of how contagious this is, usually you lose most of your flock.Once treated with this, however, it can help them become immune to cocci forever. So there is no thought process when I know they have cocci....and there is no time to waste. This stays in the chicken medicine cabinet! If you are using it for cattle, goats, etc. the directions for them are on the label. The affects are no different, you just need different quantities. Also this leaves their system in about a week if you have egg laying chickens so there is no reason not to use it.

Life saving! Buy it BEFORE you need it and keep it on hand!

Very effective life saving medicine for chickens with coccidiosis. Quickly treating the whole flock's water with Corid after seeing 2 sick hens (later confirmed to be cocci) stopped the illness from spreading to the rest, and saved the flock. This is a key medicine for every chicken owner to keep on hand in their first aid kit.
