They are crunchy and dry so there is no issue with them getting weird by drying out if you leave some out of the package like chewy treats do. They have the dry, not chalky texture of a tiny biscuit, but are much less dense than most biscuits- they have a light crunchy feel, and sound like your dog is eating a Goldfish cracker. They are more firm than a Goldfish cracker though, and do not crumble. I got the chicken soup flavor and the cheese and egg flavor to try out. The chicken soup one smells faintly like dusty chicken or chicken broth. It is not offensively dead smelling but it does smell faintly dead.
