The linen option is somewhat high maintenance, requiring careful washing and a steam iron after drying, or you end up with a wrinkly wadded up mess of a drying cloth. Even at that, nothing is ever truly lint or streak free. I bought a couple of these Riedel microfiber crystal cloths, despite being somewhat skeptical of the 'miracle microfiber' gimmick. I'm an instant convert. These cloths work, although how they do it I could not begin to tell you. Straight out of the package, they are lightweight, thin, silky material that does not seem nearly suited to the task. Nevertheless, rinse your Sommeliers (or other glassware) and give them a quick wipe with one of these Riedel cloths and be amazed -- glassware is dry, shiny, lint and streak free. That simple. I have washed it several times and it still looks dirty.** A: I bartend for private parties and events, and I use them, and have for years, to polish glasses that generally come from caterers or rental outfits; and they're always clean, and I don't worry about water spots, but I do about lipstick smudges--and it's from them that my Riedel's get stains. And I've tried everything--OxyClean, Wine-stain Removers, bleach, etc.--to get them out, and while many of them do come out, not all of them.
