For me, I heated them for about 3-5 minutes each session, not too hot that you can't touch them, and when hot, grip the sidearm as you normally would, and apply pressure around the circumference, working the grip material towards the overlap end and grip edges. I did this 5 or 6 times until they were VERY set, flush, and the overlap seam was almost indistinguishable by sight. Also take the time to press on all the ends of the grip material. (no raised surfaces/edges) You don't want this lifting or bubbling later on. Take your time. Quality is never rushed. You'll be glad you took the extra time to do this and will be rewarded with a very smooth, pro-like installation. Once I had my grip material on as I wanted it to be, I took 45-60 minutes or so for this part of the process. Heat it up, work the material as described, set it down and let it cool. (lather, rinse, repeat.) My Talon Grip installation is over 2 years old and looks NEW with zero lifted or compromised areas. BTW, I used the original rubber texture material. I've not used the other two variants. Make sure you work with a properly prepped surface as directed. **Q: Installation without a heat gun or hair dryer? Any suggestions?** A: Hold it over a gas/electric stove. Don’t hold it too close, obviously! I held it over a gas burner (low heat) with my right hand and tested the positioning with my left hand to make sure where I held it would be about the same as a hair dryer. This method works, just be careful not to burn yourself or damage the grip/gun. **Q: Anybody tried this on a Gen 3?** A: Works like a charm on Gen 3!
