That said it worked well for bolusing my pygmy goats (the copper boluses are human gel-cap size), but I had someone do it who has a lot of experience bolusing calves. I was honestly still worried. It worked perfectly both times, but in the hands of someone less experienced I'd be concerned about the animal's throat, just because it's so sharp.I'd say it's worth the price, but be aware there's a risk of injuring your pet's throat because it's hard, sharp plastic. If your pet gave it a good bite I doubt you'd be able to use the pill gun again - it's much thinner plastic than, for example, a typical 3cc syringe. And it doesn't look as long or as nice quality as in the pictures. It'll do the job if you know what you're doing, but I'd recommend something softer if you're not confident about how far to insert it, or something sturdier it you intend to use it often. Definitely not an ideal product, but serviceable in the right hands. The only downside I see at the moment is that the plastic is a bit flimsy and I can imagine it will need to be replaced down the line if the pill starts to fall out of the holder. I'm not sure this is avoidable though, due to the design of the pill gun (the tips have to have some flexibility to open up and allow the pill to pass through). I like that this dispenser can easily be used with tablets wrapped in cheese or a "pill masker" substance for pets to further reduce the bitter experience for my treasured fur friends. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars New design is terrible and NOT as pictured here! I think my cat prefers the pill shooter with a soft tip but for everyday use I preferred this one as it was easier to use and much easier to clean than the green one available for sale on Amazon. I had no problem with pills of different sizes in this one.After my cat had surgery this month, I ordered another one of these. It is much different and NOT as pictured on this page! The prongs of the dispenser are too skinny and far apart - it would be difficult to hold small pills for a cat and would definitely be uncomfortable to put in a cat's mouth! I have returned it for defectiveness. The seller has confirmed that the manufacturer changed the design - do not waste your money on this!!!
