It might be cute, but we have made sure that functionality is not affected and have packed Panda full of essential rice cooking functions and useful add on multi functions. Our advanced fuzzy logic (AI) technology controls the temperature for the efficient and perfect cooking of many different types of rice. You can cook long grain, short grain (including sushi and glutinous rice), brown rice (short or long grain). Panda doesn’t just cook perfect rice, it cooks other grains like quinoa, cous cous, millet and pearl barley perfectly too. The add on functions include porridge that can be used for rice porridge or oat porridge, slow cook, steam (food grade steam basket included) and cake baking. Panda is designed to be used in the UK or Europe (220-240V, 50Hz power) and is supplied with a UK (3-pin). Advanced Fuzzy Logic (AI). Panda's functions use advanced fuzzy logic technology (AI) to control the temperature for the efficient cooking of all different types of rice including long grain, short grain (sushi), brown rice and a quick cook option for if you want the rice cooked a little faster. Panda is designed to cook rice using over at least 7 phases to produce perfect rice every time and to carefully retain nutrients, aroma, texture and give a great taste. This phased cooking allows adjustments in temperature all controlled by Panda's AI processor so you don't have to do the thinking. When the food is ready, Panda then counts down the final 10 minutes of cooking so you can see exactly when your rice is going to be ready to serve! 24 Hour Keep Warm/Timer. Yum Asia’s rice cookers have a 24 hours automatic keep warm - it keeps rice at an ideal serving temperature until it's ready to be served. There is a countdown indicator during the cooking cycle and when the rice is cooked a beep sounds and the cooker automatically shifts to keep warm mode. This keep warm temperature has been designed to be optimal for safe rice preservation. For added convenience, there is a pre-set time function which can be set up to 24 hours in advance, so you can have delicious rice ready for when you come in from work or steaming hot porridge waiting on a cold winter's morning. A Small Footprint Packed With Style And Function.. Panda has unique Asian styling with a tough, hard-wearing and easy to clean exterior. It has a Korean designed 'Smart Button' control panel with a large, cool ice white clear and bright LED display all packed into an extremely kawaii (cute) thermopolymer body and white carry handle. The small footprint of Panda means that it can fit in even the smallest of kitchens and is perfect for individuals and couples. Healthy Ninja Ceramic Bowl. We have designed every aspect of Panda with our customers in mind and decided to include a hard-wearing, 5 layer Ninja inner bowl with a 2mm thick ceramic coating which is BPA, PTFE and PFOA free. The stainless steel inner lid, steam cap and condensation collector are all removable for easy cleaning and to ensure no mess and good hygiene. Panda uses advanced fuzzy logic (AI) to ensure rice is cooked perfectly every time. The graph above shows how our fuzzy logic / AI processor adjusts the temperature using the weight and detecting the heat inside the cooker along with pre-programmed conditions to cook rice on a typical cooking cycle. Panda also uses at least 7 phases of cooking which includes preheat, absorb water, heating, boiling, steam, cool down and keep warm with steam which are each calculated for time and temperature using the advanced fuzzy logic to create the perfect rice for your meal. Preheat – Panda starts to gently heat the rice and water in the inner bowl to between 50-60°C. This begins the cooking cycle and is key to the release of sugars into the water from the rice grains. Absorb Water – The cooking temperature is further increased whilst the advanced fuzzy logic makes small adjustments to obtain a range of between 50-80°C so the rice can optimally start absorbing the water depending on the setting chosen. Heating – The temperature is increased again to between 75-85°C to start the actual cooking process. This varies depending on the setting chosen. Boiling – Panda then rapidly increases the temperature to 100˚C boiling point to evaporate the majority of the water from the inner bowl and to further cook the rice part way. Steam – The steaming part of the cooking cycle enables the rice to continue cooking while reabsorbing the sugars in the remaining water back into the rice whilst simultaneously evaporating the remaining water. This part of the cycle makes the rice taste sweeter, more nutritious, have better aroma/texture and completes the final rice grain cooking. Cool Down – Water balancing then occurs using low temperature range cycling to ensure there is no remaining water left and that the rice has the correct moisture content. Keep Warm and Steam – The temperature is then held at an optimal 70-74°C to continue to steam the rice and keep the rice safe of bacteria etc . This ensures the rice is perfectly cooked, fluffy and delicious and ready for when you need it. Panda May Look Cute But It Has A Strong Heart! Panda has a Korean designed 'Smart Button' control panel with an easy to read cool ice white crisp and bright LED display . The buttons have been thoroughly tested for repeated pushing and to be hard wearing in even the most extreme kitchen conditions and are easily wired down for good hygiene. With your Panda you will receive a 180ml rice measuring cup for convenient rice measurements to cook just the amount of rice you need. You get a rice spatula with dimpled surface to help with rice service. A stainless steel steam tray to place above the rice you are cooking which is perfect for steaming vegetables and other foods. Also included is a multi language user manual . Small Footprint - Big On Functionality Panda is ideal for smaller kitchens, individuals or couples with it's smaller footprint and it being 3.5 rice cup capacity (can cook as little as half a cup) .. White/long grain Short grain (for sushi) rice Brown rice Steam vegetables etc Porridge (oat, rice) Slow Cooking Cake baking (even cheesecake!) Designed By People That Know Rice Cooking "We are the rice cooking experts!" At Yum Asia we love Asian food but found that the biggest problem is that we couldn't replicate the perfect rice we found when we were in restaurants! No matter how hard we tried, rice cooked in a saucepan just wasn't the same. After some really disastrous purchases of non-fuzzy logic rice cookers, which rather than cooking the perfect rice we were looking for, just spat out starchy water all over our kitchen worktop, we bought a fuzzy logic rice cooker and it changed the way we cook completely. From 2006 onward we coined the phrase 'Perfect rice at the touch of a button'.

Review: Small and easy to use - I always thought cooking rice in a pan was easy, so why waste money on a rice cooker. Boy was I wrong! The rice comes out perfect every time, just set the type of rice and the machine does the rest. The keep warm function doesn't dry it out either. The instructions are very easy to follow and it's very easy to clean. If you have never used a rice cooker before do make sure you use the measuring cup that comes with it, as the cup size is different to standard UK/US measurements. So overall I'm extremely happy with this little appliance. Well worth the money.
Review: Revolutionary Rice Cooking from the Perfect Panda - As a single person, I had debated as to whether I needed an electric rice cooker, as I have a Sistema microwave cooker that does the job relatively well. I had seen numerous rice cooker recipes that looked divine, and I spent a year debating whether I could justify purchasing one. I had looked at reviews and saw some of the very high prices many rice cookers commanded, and I would have loved to buy the Sakura, but this Yum Asia Panda rice cooker consistently ranked highly in testing. When it came up on special recently, I decided to bite the bullet and buy it. I was surprised by just how small the Yum Asia Panda is, i.e. a bit smaller than my slow cooker. It came with a measuring cup, a scoop spoon with a slot on the side to hold it, a rice bowl, and steamer insert. The rice bowl itself has the measurements marked on it for various types of rice, making it super easy to add the right amount of liquid per amount of rice. Once washed and assembled, I tried my first batch of Jasmine rice. I rinsed the rice four (4) times in cold water; my current brand being surprisingly starchy it seems. I turned on the cooker, selected white rice using the menu function, and it started, silently! Surprisingly, the cooker said it would take 40 minutes, which is much longer than my microwave cooker, which takes between 8 & 12 minutes. I could see steam rising from the designated outlet at the back, as it was supposed to. At the end of the cooking cycle, the warming function immediately kicked in. Upon opening the lid of my Panda, I found my rice cooked to absolute perfection, and it was easily broken up and served using the provided scoop. There was only a little bit of sticky starch to clean from the bowl after use, but no other mess whatsoever around the cooker or counter. The next time I cooked rice, I used the steamer basket for vegetables. Again, the result was perfection. Removing the steamer basket was a little difficult without getting burned, but I've learned to employ tongs to do so safely. I've since tried some of those rice cooker recipes and they've turned out just as expected - divine. Yes, it does take 40 minutes to cook rice; however, I've now learned to put the rice on, then start prepping and cooking the rest of my meal, and by the time that's done, my rice is cooked. I've also tried brown and basmati rice, and this little Panda has provided perfect results every time. Even pasta dishes can be cooked using my Panda. I've given away my Sistema microwave rice cooker. I love that selecting the various functions is intuitive, and the buttons are easy to press. The rice cooker and accessories are easily cleaned without a dishwasher. Admittedly, the little moisture collection basket is a little tricky to clean, but I have some straw brushes that do the job nicely. The internal lid is easily removable for cleaning, and clips back on without any fuss. Now I know why the Yum Asia Panda rice cooker gets such high praise in reviews. It is so worth the money!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Anybody explain why on amazon its more expensive than on official uk yum asia shop? About 10 pounds and they have dpd carrier**
A: Hello! We have to charge slightly more for our products on Amazon because the fees we are charged to sell on Amazon's marketplace are very high (£17 per Panda rice cooker sold). The fees we have selling on our own website are lower than this, so we are able to charge less for Panda on our own site.

**Q: How much time does it take to cook a cup of rice? (Basmati)**
A: Hello! It would depend on whether you were cooking white or brown basmati as the cooking times are different. Cooking time depends on ambient temperatures as well as how much rice you are cooking. The guidance we give in the manual is that it's around 35 minutes for white basmati, this is the full capacity cooking time so for 1 cup it's around 25 minutes. For brown basmati the cooking time is around 1 hour. If you would like to look at the manual, you can find this here - yumasia.co.uk/image/data/manuals_pdf/YumAsia/Panda%20YUM-EN06%20Manual-EN.pdf

**Q: What are the actual volume ratios of long grain white rice to water?**
A: Hello! We do not use volume ratios for any of our rice cookers because there are water scale marks stamped onto the inner bowl, this takes any guesswork out of the water/rice ratios. So you use the provided 180ml measuring cup to measure the rice you want into the inner bowl, then you use the scale on the inner bowl to fill to the corresponding number of cups as indicated on the scale - so for 2 cups, you measure the 2 cups of rice, then fill to the number 2 on the right hand side of the scale on the bowl.

**Q: Can it also be used as a slow cooker for casseroles?**
A: Yes it makes an excellent curry casserole cooks new potatoes to perfection will also make pastry less quiche and soup

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I regret not buying this sooner
*by R***A on 12 February 2022*

Oh boy, where do I begin. Let's start with the product 1. Easy to use? Absolutely, literally plug it in, put rice and water, press a button to select the type of cooking, start, forget about it, it will let you know when it's finished and then go to keep rice warm automatically 2. Size? Quite small, I'd compare it to my 4 bay toaster, it can fit in most spaces but if you don't use it daily like me, you can easily just store it somewhere. 3. Can it cook rice? Oh yes it can, and soup too apparently but I haven't tested that yet. The only "issue" I have is trying to get the measurements right, or maybe I need to buy a different brand of rice, because it always ends up a bit "sticky". Not horribly so, the rice still tastes absolutely great, but sometimes I want fluffy rice that doesn't clump unless you press it, but I don't think that's the machine's fault. 4. Is it fast? Oh yes! It depends on the type and quantity of rice you're making but 1 cup of rice it's usually 15-20 mins, perfect to start working on the rest of your stir-fry. 5. Does it taste good? I literally can't tell the difference between this or restaurant made. I mean, sure, they can make the whole dish better than I can at home, but just the rice itself? As good as any I've ever had at any restaurant worth its salt. Now, the personal stuff. Really, I regret not buying one sooner, like... I've been wasting my life having to try and cook rice in a pot and almost ALWAYS do something wrong about it. Either some got stuck to the bottom, either too wet, not enough fluff, temperature was too high/low, the list goes on. Seriously, if you do rice even 2 times a week, this is worth it! Now for a "warning" bit. Nothing wrong just a word of advice, as all that steam needs to escape somewhere, and it does, through a little vent on the top of the device, so don't put it underneath other stuff, especially cupboards or such in the kitchen. Let that steam just rise all the way up. However, you can use this as a great opportunity to clean the bottom of those suspended wall-mounted cupboards, by letting the steam melt down all the grease and dirt that went on over the years, so maybe it's a good thing?
