Review: One Week In, and So Far I Love it! - So this is kind of an "initial impressions" review (I'll try to come back in a few months and update the review based on a longer experience). Things I really like: the amazing light weight; the beautiful, bright, screen; long battery life; fast boot time via the SSD; built-in USB port; i7 core processor is fast; discrete NVIDIA video chip (bottom of the line, but still rare in a laptop this thin and light) and dedicated video memory; the supplied carrying case; fast charge time; and most of all, the sturdy, rugged chassis. The key features to me are the extremely light weight and the very high quality, CNC-machined, uni-body aluminum chassis. Things that are OK: sound quality and volume; nonvolatile storage capacity; trackpad; keyboard; reasonably small amount of bloatware; dongle for HDMI and other connections Things I don't like: power charger (cable should be longer); no Thunderbolt support; no ability to upgrade RAM Things I wish it had but understand why it doesn't . . . numeric keypad; dedicated Home and End keys; larger palm rest in front of keyboard. I have a bunch of laptops from very basic no-frills models, to heavy-duty gaming laptops with high end NVIDIA chips and lots of video memory. I bought this laptop so I could work while traveling without lugging around any more weight than necessary. "Work" for me means connecting to my office network, running basic MS Office apps (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) and doing Internet searches. No video production or processing. No heavy gaming. Not sure whether this laptop would really be suited to such heavy-duty use. So far, this laptop really fills the bill for what I need. Overall, I love this laptop. I think we're going to be together for a long, long, time. 8/26/20 UPDATE: I said that I would try to come back in a few months and update this review based on a longer experience. It has been several months now, and I still love this computer! My other laptops all have 16 GB of memory and I was not sure that the 8 GB in this machine would be adequate. So far, I have not noticed any issues with that. Again, I mostly use this laptop for MS Office Apps, email and Internet. Not real heavy duty. On the other hand, the build quality of this very lightweight laptop IS heavy duty. Solid as a bank vault. The screen is small, but oh so bright. This has quickly become my favorite laptop. Highly recommended!
Review: Best laptop ever - Excellent, I use for work and play. I prefer a smaller laptop and with this screen, it doesn't feel smaller. The keyboard is excellent, the customization for fans allows for quieter game play when I'm doing light gaming. The hinge lift is an excellent feature. The only thing missing is touchscreen capability, but I dont really mind not having it with this laptop as beautiful and functional as it is without it, plus its not a 2 in 1. Its by far the best laptop I've ever owned and its so light and compact i can take it anywhere with no hassle at all. Fantastic product by Asus. (sidenote: i upgraded from an HP spectre x360 that was a couple of years old. It was an excellent laptop but pales in comparison to this.)

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Isn't this supposed to come with 16gb ram? review units sent to tech journalists have the same config and price but with 16gb**
A: Mine is 8gb ram.

**Q: Wheres the 16GB option?**
A: Hello,

Sadly, this model only has the 8GB on board RAM. It is not capable of a 16GB upgrade.

**Q: The keyboard is a qwerty keyboard? and the operating system is in english?**
A: Yes, this notebook will come with a US Standard QWERTY Keyboard, but Windows 10 Operating System and Keyboard settings can be in different languages based on how the Operating System is set up. You can set it to English, or other regional languages.

**Q: Do they make a case?**
A: Asus does not make cases. I shopped on Amazon for a case, and ultimately bought a tomtoc 360 Protective Laptop Sleeve which has a pocket for the computer and two pockets in front for the charger and accessories. It is stylish and well made. I love the computer, by the way.

### ⭐ Bad buy
*by P***U on February 13, 2025*

I have had this computer since Aug 2024 and I wish like hell I would have sent it back like I did the first one. The first one arrived dead on arrival. This 2nd one was working fine until last month when the laptop fan refuses to stop running. It's very noisy, obnoxious and very distracting in terms of trying to work on it! It also does weird things like shuts off and doesn't want to come back on until the next day. I would not recommend this laptop to my worst enemy!
