It will take your knuckles a bit to get used to the canvas, but if you are looking for a punching bag, red knuckles should not be a concern. The second I did a bit of digging around until I found very small gravel, similar to the kind they use in aquariums, and filled it up just a bit less. Both times the bag held up for about a year and a half, BUT I did keep my bag outside attached to a large tree. The wear of outdoors gets to them quick, and also beware of cats. Mine went nuts and were always clinging to it. I'd say it's a good investment, but unless you have already acquired some skill with a stationary "ground" bag with gravel or steel shot. If not, fill it slowly and strike with caution. Start slow and slowly increase power (like over months) and fill slowly (also over months). And if you keep it outside or at a place people can walk by and strike it, PUT UP A WARNING SIGN. I had a bunch of neighbor kids that lived around me at the time, and they thought they'd come punch my bag. It didn't end well, obviously. Someone with no prior conditioning can really hurt themselves on accident. Also nab some dit da jow, it's not really necessary for a normal heavy bag, but it's pretty necessary if you're upping to gravel or shot. Use it before and after. Train safe! I put it up around last month and have been punching and kicking and beating it up and it is still in perfect condition. Before you buy this bag however, you need to expect to purchase some sand or put in old clothes in order to put inside to fill the bag, for it does not come with sand and filling materials. You will also need to buy hanging hardware for this bag does not come with that either. This does make sense, for the bag only costs $25.
