I usually wear 40" pants and depending on the season they either fit loose or just right. I was looking for shorts to lounge around the house that I could also been seen in public if I was hit by a craving and had to go out to the gas station to pick up a bag of chips or something. The elastic around the waste is firm but not tight so the drawstring isn't needed yet. The pockets hold my wallet and keys well without spilling them out every time I sit down.
