It was a 4 star read for me, and the second one was entertaining. This book though...was just kind of boring. The characters get in the same situations over and over again. They have the same conflict again and again, and have the same moral dilemmas again and again. I found myself skimming the pages as quick as possible towards the end. This book also seemed like it tried to cover a lot of themes but couldn't pick one and so we just got the surface level of everything it wanted to be and it came off as preachy. The characters were fine...but I thought we would see more of a struggle with Naomi. She kind of had a hard time at first and then suddenly is super cool with everything. Abel was the same. I liked his character the most but he seemed less charismatic than in the other books. The romance was kind of a let down. They didn't seem to have the same chemistry as they did in the first two books but it ends good enough.I think overall the series is good and if you liked the first two you should at least read it to see what happens. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This Series is My Favorite *by V***V on Reviewed in the United States on April 30, 2019* My goodness, where do I start? This book is the final installment of a trilogy by Gray and I just have to say, I read it in less than 6 hours and I absolutely loved it. It was a wonderful read. This whole trilogy is very near and dear to my heart, and is definitely my favorite alongside the Maze Runner series. I felt this trilogy (and this book especially) is incredibly unique, creative, romantic, and just all around fun to read. If I could give this one a million stars out of five, I would. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A fun read *by A***N on Reviewed in the United States on July 2, 2019* This book (and the trilogy it's part of) explores a romantic relationship between a human and an advanced AI in human form. It also had a nice storyline involving many planetary systems within the galaxy. The book is firmly in the realm of soft sci fi, not emphasising the physics or science, but still giving a lot of opportunity for wonder and imagination. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.us/products/113032881-defy-the-fates-defy-the-stars-3](https://www.desertcart.us/products/113032881-defy-the-fates-defy-the-stars-3) --- *Product available on Desertcart United States of America* *Store origin: US* *Last updated: 2026-10-15*
