They're small, but my four-year-old loves them. However, the play mat is a two-sided puzzle that is too difficult for her to put together on her own, and since one side of it has little roads and stuff on it, she doesn't want to play with these blocks without it, so anytime she wants to play I have to put together the puzzle for her, plus it means she can't play them on the floor because even on a stiff rug the puzzle constantly comes apart...I really with it was actually a mat.
