Review: Great Build Quality, Light Spectrum, and Light Intensity! Oh... and Great Price! - This is just my initial impressions. The attached pic is of me temp installing the light onto my aquaponics system above the strawberries. This light meets all of the check boxes I needed (See title). It does indeed run hot when at full power. I can even feel mild heat radiating off of the lights when at half power (not much though). There is a reason for this though. This light actually puts out IR light (and Ultraviolet light). Which generates heat and acts like a supercharger to plant growth. In fact UV and IR light can do things like make herbs more aromatic as well as cause the plants to produce more compounds to protect themselves from the sun. Which increases nutrients for the consumer of the plant. If growing lettuce or other greens I would just use at half power and find the right height/distance for each type of plant. Full power would be great for heat loving plants that are fruiting. Or things with tall/deep canopies after they have grown for a while. My strawberries in my Aquaponics system have been pumping out flowers at a lower light level than when this light is at half power. I now believe the reviews that stated that they used this light for tomatoes. So long as this light stands the test of time... I will likely be back for sure! I just built a tall stand with pulleys and plan to use this thing to grow out fruit tree cuttings and things for the garden starting early each Spring. This thing can produce some floor coverage when pulled high enough off of the ground. The plants will remain cool on my garage floor and the light is still intense enough to get cuttings rooted... then lower the light as they mature. This thing is close to the Sun in intensity... but much cooler than direct sunlight obviously.
Review: Brightest grow light at the best price - This is one of the best grow lights I’ve purchased for indoor greens for under $100 US (although it has now gone up in price). I am using it for propagation in a flood and drain hydroponics system between 18-24 inches above the plants. It is at least as good as a my eight bulb T5 grow lights that were a more expensive and it is probably as bright as well. The Product: this light set up is approx. 12 x 48 inches (see official specs) and for me covers a 24 x 48 in with some light spillage. There are 8 rows of 80 LED lights/row, each covered by a plastic diffuser. There are two switches one that controls the outer and one for inner lights. The cord is approx. 6ft long made of standard house lamp cable with a three pronged grounded plug (US). There’s is a grounded socket for daisy chaining lights together on the other end opposite the cord. On the top of the fixture small plastic screw caps hold the lights in place and can break off. A dippled reflector surrounds the light housing but does not extend further than 2 inches from the light source unlike other Durolux T5 fixtures. Brightness: These lights are wonderfully bright for the price and comparable with other similar purpose T5 fixtures. The manufacturer rates the color temp at 5500K suitable for greens and other plants although you might supplement sentive flowering plants with a 2 bulb LED fixture at a 3500K temp if it matters. The manufacturer also rates the light at 1.3 PAR and 42000 micro moles which makes it very commendable for the price. Naturally, the center has the greatest intensity loosing PAR as you move toward the edges. I would really love to see this tested with a professional PAR meter and the results posted. A similar system with a 1.98 PAR would cost more than 3x as much and you would probably have to assemble it yourself. (Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) meters measure light intensity within the spectrum that plants use to grow. The greater the PAR the more light is available for photosynthesis) Heat: As some have already noted that this thing generates a lot of heat and one reviewer even added a small fan to compensate. However most of that heat is directed upward. I sat my digital temp monitor on top of the unit and it was consistently 80-85 degrees but below the lights at less than 18 inches only showed 75 degrees. That seems to work well for me because I have my plants are on racks so the heat effectively warms the upper rack. Size: it’s only 12 inches wide which is much smaller than other similar 8 row/bulb lighting systems. It is perfect for plants grown on wire racks which are usually between 12-20inches wide. However if your rack is 24 inches wide than the outer edges will not be nearly as bright. I added Mylar to the walls to compensate. Power consumption: This unit is pulling 174 watts consistently which is significantly less compared to my 8 bulb T5 unit is pulling 432 watts. Of course the T5 is a 6500 K system compared to the Durolux’s 5500 Ks and without using more sophisticated lighting tests it’s hard to be sure how they stack up but as far as power is concerned I could have two of these Durolux LEDs that would cost less to buy and to run without needing to change bulbs every year or so. Packaging: As noted by others, my lights did not come packaged well. The cardboard ends and the box were not enough to protect it while shipping. When the lights arrived one end was slightly damaged and several of the plastic pieces that hold the lights in place were broken and rattling around. I do not think this impacts the light itself but it’s a known problem. If they added additional support to the center body along with possibly some styrofoam it might help. Indeed this is the only problem I find with the light. Still, no one wants to spend money on a grow light only to have it delivered with parts rattling around inside. Other suggestions: In addition to the packaging, I would widen it a little. Although, I understand why it’s only 12 inches wide, if they were to add a little space between the light strips making it about 16 inches wide it might sacrifice a little PAR or intensity in the center but would increase the lighting to the outside edges to at least 24 inches. Recommendations: I highly recommend this product for what it can do at this price point. I have seven different similar lighting systems that were about the same price from T8s, to T5s to 300w LEDs and this one is the best and brightest so far with the greatest potential for the long term savings.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great light at an affordable price.
*by B***N on September 9, 2019*

I use this light for growing/maintaining some of my carnivorous plants (mostly drosera and utricularia). The picture I provided isn't great, but I was trying to show someone how much my plants had already recovered from shipping (they looked pretty dang rough) but it does show how well it lights up the plants, the color temperature is great. I keep this about 18" above my trays and within a few days many of my plants were already recovered from shipping, growing new leaves, obtaining great color, covered with "dew" (that's how they catch insects) and flowering. I plan on buying another one to create a living display to keep at work. For a real test I have a few venus fly traps just forming from leaf pullings, since they can skip their first year of dormancy I will try and grow them under this light and see how they do (they require a LOT of intense light). Edit: I have added a picture of the same plants not even two weeks later.
