Review: Amazing vacuum. Beats out my older Bissell 2999. - I actually was in the market for a new vacuum as there were parts breaking on my Bissell 2999. (Dust buildup inside the motor housing leading to bearing whine, brush roller wear that required modification to prevent additional damage, as well as handle damage that prevented the vacuum handle from staying locked in place and later being unable to be removed as it got jammed slightly at an angle.) Moving on, this is actually a step up, despite having got it at a substantially lower price (99 dollars verse the original Bissell 2999 price being around 200 dollars.) I wanted something that people praised for higher reliability, and this advertised a limited 5 year warranty. I got it, because 99 for a well reviewed vacuum was excellent in idea. I then looked at reviews all over the internet only to find out more and more that the Shark NV360 was way better than expected. My only caveats to date are that it has a smaller agitator head, and that it doesn't come with a agitator attachment, you'd need to get the Pro version NV356E to get the agitator attachment. It does come with a smaller crevasse tool and a very functional upholstery tool that also worked very very well on the stairs. Suction on this vacuum is amazing. Especially compared to my Bissell 2999. I have Hoover and Bissell Vacuums, and the 2999 was better than my previous vacuums, but oddly not better than this current one from Shark, the NV360 just to keep things clear. The hose diameter is larger, and that typically means less pressure for most vacuums, however, that is not the case here. You really need to be careful when using the attachments as it will suck up a sock you may have got too close too and it'll all be too fast to recover from anywhere other than the dust bin. Emptying the dustbin is more involved than my Bissell and Hoover vacuums, where a single button press allows you to pull the bin from its' resting place. In the case of the Shark, you will need to undo two latches that secure the bin in place, but while I thought this would be a bigger problem it has not been. Installing the bin has been a bigger issue than removing it but the process is still really simple. The dual latch does offer the better seal though as it allows for more uniform pressure on the seal under neath and keeps the dust flowing down. It does seem that the foam prefilter would need more cleans than my Bissell 2999 required, but I found that dust released from the Bissell system would agitate my nose a touch, because allergies, while I have had zero incidents of that with the shark. (The Bissell 2999 was still the best I had before I got this NV360 for allergies I experienced, I just thought it was because it was kicking something up but dust patterns formed later in its' life showing it was some dust leakage.) Moving this around is easier than the Bissell 2999 as well, but that is partially because the base is smaller. Both were swivel style vacuums but the NV360 does better on tighter turns than the Bissell. The smaller head seems to also focus more of the dust into the dust bin. Going over areas the Bissell seamed done with, I found that there was still a ton of dirt and dust embedded into the carpet even after 8 passes with the Bissell. I only knew there was more because even though I wasn't getting anything more on the 8th pass with the Bissell, going over the same area with the NV360 showed there was still a lot of dust left in the carpet. The Bissell did get all the dog hair though and there was only dust and dirt that the shark was able to extract. (This also lead me to do a carpet clean though, as I have a Bissel carpet cleaner that I really like and I finished the job with that.) My lesson learned though is that even with a great vacuum like the Shark or my previous best Bissell, you may have to vacuum more often than every 3-4 days as that dirt just keeps getting deeper if you dont. Moving on, I am actually very impressed and absolutely can recommend this vacuum to anyone who needs something better. I absolutely can recommend it to anyone who has allergies like me as well. Best vacuum to date. Side note though, when researching vacuums, I did find that the Shark Stratos and Rotator options are more amazing when it comes to airflow and pressure as well as large objects and long hair, but they are between 200 and 300 dollars. For me this is the best option for now, especially seeing it was only 99 dollars when I got it.
Review: Best Vacuum Ever! - I am THOROUGHLY impressed with this vacuum. I had a shark vacuum, got it as a gidt from work over 10 years ago. When I let someone use it and they ruined it, I found myself in need of a new vacuum. I tried another well known brand and I was disappointed because it didn't have all the features of the shark vacuum I loved so much. So I purchased this one and I'm so glad I did. I love that it has an Upholstery and corner attachment to get tight spaces. If I have a short reach, I can just detach the hose. If I have a longer, higher reach, I can use the wand. And if I need an even further reach or if I had stairs, I can detach the tank and be even more mobile. Super easy to clean from the tank to the filter which means it will last long. I love that it swivels which makes it easier to get tight spaces and maneuver. But what I love the most is the POWER! I sometimes will leave phone chords out because of it accidentally gets caught in the vacuum, it's easy to pull out. This vacuum has such strong suction power, I didn't want to risk it! Lol. I literally vacuumed a week ago and this thing picked up so much dirt that I about went through the whole house again. You can feel how powerful it is as soon as you start to sweep. It gives a really deep clean, it's easy to hold, easy to assemble, and picks up in no time. This is the kind of clean I was looking for. I'm going Shark for everything from now on.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the difference between the Shark NV356E and the Shark 360?**
A: Hi Madeline. I did a brief review of the nv356e at the Amazon site, compared to the 360 (which I own). The 356e claims to have a 9.5" vacuum path, while the 360 is 11". The 360 is 15 or so lbs, the 356e is 14 lbs. It appears the technology and mechanical functioning of the models are nearly identical. Attachments are also similar. I own two of the 360s, which I bought from Target. I'm very happy with them.

**Q: We have only had our vacuum for a few weeks, and it smells like dog when we turn it on. What can we do??**
A: I have two dogs and two Shark vacs (one vac is for indoor carpet and the other is several yrs old used for the gross screened, muddy porch room). My vac recs: I remove and wash the filters after every vacuum; (agreeing with other posters re: baking soda, which absorbs odors) I sprinkle baking soda on my carpets pre-vac every two weeks; I also immediately empty the dust bin after each use. Maintenance: I wipe down the dust bin with vinegar & water (spray on a towel, wipe it out, then wipe again with water-only damp towel) and the gasket seals with water/alcohol (same process as H2O/vinegar) once every month or two then pop in a bit (approx 2TBSP) of baking soda when dry; I dump that baking soda after a day or so. That sounds time consuming, but I can do both in 5 minutes while watching t.v. As for the filters, if you crack open your vac and take a peek, I bet you'll be surprised at how dirty the filter is after a single use...and, like a car, anything with a motor should not run with a clogged filter. Either way, I'm not rich, and I intend these to last without stinking, so I put in a clean filter after each time I vacuum.
So, I have spare filters galore, amazing suction on my old "outdoor" Shark, and neither ever smells like old dirty dog even when my dogs are old and dirty.

**Q: is the shark navigator lift-away delux self propelled?**
A: ANY vacuum with a beater brush can be adjusted to be easier to use on the carpet. Start with the cleaner on the carpet you want to clean, with the head raised as high as it will go. Turn it on and start to lower the brush head slowly, one click at a time. You will hear the tone change when the brush makes contact with the carpet. Drop it one or two more clicks until you hear the tone of the brush head get noticeably lower as it pushes hard against the carpet. Then take it back up one click. That will be an optimal height for cleaning and the brush head will actually help propel the unit as you clean; more of an assist vs. self propelled.

**Q: Does the pet hair power brush actually spin when it comes in contact with upholstery? Others just stop spinning when they touch resistance.**
A: This vacuum in 2019 does NOT come with the pet attachment. It just has a flat upholstery attachment that doesn't rotate.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best Vacuum Ever!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Holy Suction!
*by T***S on June 30, 2026*

My husband has spent the last several days laughing at me because I am IN LOVE with my new vacuum! Seriously! The suction on this thing is amazing AND it is adjustable. If you're finding it hard to vacuum on certain surfaces, it's because you need to adjust your settings. So just for reference, I used it to vacuum a 4,000sq ft. house, with stairs and multiple surfaces (carpet, rugs, hardwood and tile), and it held up amazingly the entire time! When using the full unit, it picked up everything on the first swipe and left a spotless floor in its wake, INCLUDING on the hardwood and tile floors. I couldn't believe it. I hate sweeping with the broom, but the vacuum is never enough. Now it is! When using the detachable unit for the stairs and higher areas, it performed, dare I say, even better. The stairs were the best they have ever been. There was no loss of suction when switching to the detachable unit. The tools attached and performed above expectation, with no lag or inability to pick up debris. The tools for higher spaces worked perfectly and efficiently. This vacuum is a great deal especially for the price. I will never buy another vacuum, ever.
