## Description

An expansion to the Resistance Universe that adds fun new ways to play Resistance!, Assassin Module: The Resistance Avalon roles ported to the Resistance Universe, Defector Module: Players can switch allegiances during the game., Trapper Module: Bigger mission teams.

Review: Must have expansion! Better than Avalon! - Must have expansion for "The Resistance"! The Hidden Roles turn a good game great and make it far more engaging for the players. This expansion further comes with 2 more modules. I strongly prefer getting "The Resistance + Hidden Agenda expansion" over "The Resistance: Avalon", even though I need to pay $10 more to have essentially the same game. This is because, in my opinion, the Sci-Fi straightforward nature of "The Resistance" is MUCH more accessible to new players than the camelot theme of "The Resistance: Avalon". This is important to me because this game is basically considered a gateway game that new players to board games can quickly grasp and have a ton of fun. Here are the names of the hidden roles in both versions of the game and you can decide for yourself if you prefer one over the others with [Avalon names] vs [Resistance Hidden Agenda names]: [Minion of Mordred] vs [Spy] [Loyal Servant of Arthur] vs [Resistance Member] [Merlin] vs [The Commander] [Percival] vs [Bodyguard] [Mordred] vs [Deep Cover] [Oberon] vs [Blind Spy] [Morgana] vs [False Commander] [The Lady in the Lake] vs [The Inquisitor] [Assassin] vs [Assassin] As you can see...it's not as satisfying to yell out "YOU'RE A MINION" over "YOU'RE A DIRTY SPY", or really any of the other roles. The names of the The Resistance are far more intuitive than Avalon, and this goes a long way when teaching new players. Saying Minions of Mordred sounds about as fun as saying the word 'Moist' or 'The Rural Juror'. The theme of The Resistance - taking place in a dystopian future, where corporations (or what have you) rule the land, and a small band of citizens form a resistance to topple the corrupt regime, is more exciting and relatable to a larger audience than awkwardly named knights questing against a vague sinister evil that threatens the medieval land. Additionally, I like the character art, or just all of the art, in "The Resistance" a LOT more than "Avalon". The expansion comes with a ton more regular Spy and Resistance member character cards that adds more interesting diversity between the characters portrayed that can be swapped in and out to keep things a little fresher. Granted, there is only 1 character for each hidden role, but I think they do a very good job in capturing a diverse group of people for those roles. If this appeals to you, then the crisp character art of Sci-Fi version is the way to go. Also, if you really end up liking "The Resistance", there are 2 more expansions - "Hostile Intent" and "The Plot Thickens" that only follow the Sci-Fi theme, which are not compatible with the "Avalon"s theme. All of this is worth an extra $10 to pay for "The Resistance + Hidden Agenda" over "The Resistance: Avalon". But this is just my opinion. I have a friend who prefers the camelot theme, so it all depends on your group. Have fun!
Review: Excellent Expansion - The Resistance is a popular game in my gaming group and we play it often. This expansion really improves The Resistance and makes things more interesting. Assassin Module: This module contains all the special roles that are in The Resistance: Avalon re-themed. The special roles you can include here really make the game fun. The Commander on the blue team knows who all the spies are but she must remain unknown to the spies because if the spies figure out who she is, they can assassinate her and win the game even if three missions succeed. This really makes the game more intense because spies must actually do a little deduction themselves. There are other roles included to make things more interesting. Defector Module: In this module, there is a spy and resistance defector that may change their alliance. They can switch teams once, twice, or not at all in the game! Playing with the defectors adds a new level of paranoia that is great. Trapper Module: Not my favourite module but still a nice way to change things up. Every mission the leader selects one additional member than is normally required. Everyone chooses a mission card but the leader gets to "trap" one player and view if they have submitted a fail or success and stop them from putting that card in. Overall Hidden Agenda is a nice addition to The Resistance. I suggest buying this one first before buying the other expansion. They also added some resistance members and spies with different artwork to expand the "cast" of the resistance and make them more diverse. In addition, all modules are compatible with plot cards to add even more variation. I certainly recommend this expansion as a must buy for any Resistance fan.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this allow for more players?**
A: No. It adds New elements to the existing game. New game variations. These variations can be used with the originalngame alone, or in combination with the other variations included. Two expansion packs like this exist. Both are great!

**Q: Do i need to buy the original version of the resistance in addition to hidden agenda in order to play?**
A: Hidden Agenda is an expansion. You need the base game in order to play.

**Q: For anyone who has bought this and the base game (2nd or 3rd edition) is there still the issue of the backs having darker colors? (2019/2020)**
A: No, I haven't seen that issue in my set.

**Q: Can this expansion be used with Avalon?**
A: Because Resistance & Avalon are the same game just with different flavor I'm sure you could make it work.It might be kind of funny.AMA

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great addition
*by A***R on November 11, 2018*

I’ve played Avalon and really enjoyed it. I didn’t like the theme too much though. This is so much better. I run a board game club at the high school I work at and this is the right type of game for large groups that are fairly new to gaming. The roles add more to the basic game and seems to balance the game more. I rarely found the resistance winning in the base game. The roles even out the field a bit and add new dimension and tension to the already fantastic game. Get it, the base game feels incomplete without it now.
