I think the step to have a "pencil thin amount of water flowing nearby" is probably a critical part and you really have to dial in the flow just right. That said it made my formerly very stinky sink NOT STINKY and it hasn't re-stunk since I last cleaned it! For me, even with the lukewarm foaming action, that makes this worth it's weight in gold.
