My youngest is 7 and still not the best at swimming. Needed something simple just for reassurance in deeper water in a pool. It's surprisingly hard to find a simple vest that zips for kids over the age of 6 or weighing over 55lbs that isn't a full blown coast gaurd approved life vest with buckles etc. And just for swimming pool use. This was one of about 3 options for her weight range the other ones the prints were hideous or almost seemed like a baby would wear the design. This had all the elements we wanted, my daughter doesn't mind wearing it just in case because its not huge, she can put it on/ take off by herself and it does help keep her afloat. Weight range I believe is 55-80 lbs so definetely designed for a slighlty older child. Fits nicely when she has it on, snug, not tight and not bulky like a life jacket ( she is 57 lbs and average height for her age) We just didn't need something crazy big for supervised swimming. It’s lightweight and was easy for my boy to move around in. Wouldn’t recommend for boating or rafting as there are no straps on the legs to keep it from slipping off. Feet first jumping into the water caused it to slip up around his face.
