I specifically got this one because even if it is from 2017, it's *relatively* spec'ed out and should be able to handle most tasks with ease. This Macbook powers on / wakes up very quickly. Because it has an Intel chip you will hear the fans running when your throw too many tasks at it, but most of the time they don't. The screen is beautiful and enjoyable to look at. It's very snappy and handles everything without breaking a sweat. This model goes up to MacOS Ventura (13.x.x), which is compatible with a lot of things from the App store. The Intel processor has compatibility with just about everything made for MacOS, and in some cases, some stuff that the M-series chips can't run. Certain Apple apps like Pages install but like some version that is compatible with Ventura. Keep in mind that this unit only has 2 type-c ports. This hasn't been an issue for me because I don't need to plug in too many things. The way around having 2 ports is either using Bluetooth accessories and / or using a USB hub. Two weeks ago, right after the return policy expired I started seeing a flashing question mark inside a folder when I opened up the Macbook. It would take several attempts to restart (boot) the device and the problem just got worse. After erasing and reinstalling the operating system it worked good for about an hour before it shut down displaying the question mark inside a folder. I wasn't able to reboot the device so I took it to the repair shop (the most reputable repair shop in Warsaw, Poland). The guy at the repair shop told me that 2017 Macbook pro computers are notorious for failing hard drives. If you buy a 2017 Macbook pro just be aware of the fact that the hard drive is a ticking time bomb waiting to fail. It will cost me about $300 to get a new hard drive installed. If you buy this model it is safe to assume that the computer you paid $569 is eventually going to need at least another $300 in repairs after you purchase it. He told me that I was lucky. If I had bought a later version or the Macbook with four USB ports instead of two I wouldn't have been able to easily replace the hard drive because it is soldered to the motherboard.
