I read this book to my son's kindergarten class on the recommendation of his teacher - genius that she is. The kids were skeptical at first. No pictures? How could that be fun? But once I was declaring that my only friend was a hippo named BooBoo Butt, they were sold. The nonsense words and sound effects I, as the reader, was forced to say (because that's how books work) were the stuff hilarity is made of. My only caution would be not to try to read this book with any sense of dignity or decorum. You gotta let that go. After all, your only friend is a hippo named BooBoo Butt.

My 3 yo laughs hysterically at this book!  Great for parents who don't mind being silly narrators.  It does use the word "butt" for humor at one point if you are sensitive to that.
