I had lost my OEM Nikon lens cap and got this as a backup.  Snapped right into place and worked quite well for me so far.  Simple and easy so far as I've only had it about a month.

Canon lens caps are pressed only on the edges.  This is very inconvenient for use with a lens hood.A simple center snap lens cap like this is really nice for any Canon photographer since they can be attached with a lens hood on.  I've been using mine for years now and never use the original Canon cap.  I generally buy this kind of cap as soon as I get another Canon lens.Nikon photographers have it easier since their lens caps are already center pinch designs.  I suppose a Canon photographer could use a Nikon lens cap but the Canon camera (or photographer) will probably break out in a rash.If you are shopping for others, this could serve as a simple stocking stuffer.  Getting a nice little collection of standard sizes like 52 mm or 58 mm would be a good idea and serves as backups for the potential lost caps with even a Nikon shooter.  A larger size like this  72 mm is for a more expensive lens than the typical kit lens.  You can check the size that they need if you sneak a peak at their lenses - it will be printed on each lens.Another benefit is that it helps to make the camera a little bit less conspicuous for thieves.  (Still clear but at least it doesn't scream out "Canon" or "Nikon" which some people might read as "Steal Me"In any case, it makes another good Amazon "filler" item to get to free shipping.
