Gone are the days of lugging heavy cement boards, cutting through cement with a knife, cursing at trying to cut a round hole in a piece of cement board... Pros: * The boards are SOOO light, but they are strong enough for 16" stud spacing. They feel secure when on the wall * The boards are SOOO easy to cut. Easier than drywall! * Easy to cut shapes. I used a Kerdi niche, and it looks great and was simple to install. * You can spackle over the board above the tile (if desired) * Totally waterproof/moldproof * Grid pattern makes laying tile faster to keep things level and plumb The only real downside is that it is more expensive than Durock and the Kerdi membrane.
