I use it when my hair feels wire like. It makes it easier to separate when it’s tangled. But it really goes back to your texture. My grandma has naturally straight frizzy hair. I can rub a quarter size in my palms. Starting from end to roots, it gives moisture without weighing it down. Give it time to soak in. I made the mistake of putting a whole palm full in at once while sectioning my hair. I just felt damp and heavy. My curls wouldn’t curl. I brushed it in a bun and it looked like I straightened it.
