Product description 10 Live Thai Micro Spider Crabs (Limnopilos naiyanetri) - 1/4 to 1/2 inch in diameter - Fully Aquatic! by Aquatic Arts Included is 10 Thai Micro Crabs (Limnopilos naiyanetr, aka "false spider crabs). These are tiny, fully aquatic crabs that so far have only been found in one specific river in Thailand. They are a very new and rare addition to the aquarium hobby. This is one of the very few types of crab that can live fully immersed in water at all times, so they are able to be kept in any freshwater aquarium. Due to their small size, these crabs pose little or no threat to most fish or other aquarium inhabitants; however, aggressive fish or animals may come after the micro crabs. They tend to do very well in tanks with dwarf shrimp. Thai Micro Crabs are translucent, which can make them difficult to see. They don't grow any larger than 1/2 inch in diameter, making them great for small tanks and nano tanks. They often act shy when first introduced to a new tank, but eventually will be found clinging to plants and decor and perching atop driftwood. They prefer to have plenty of hiding places, such as caves and plant cover. The way they eat is similar to Singapore Flower Shrimp or Bamboo Shrimp - they filter particles out of the water using tiny hairs on their claws. Recommended Tank Parameters: - PH level range: 6.5 to 8.0 - Temperature range: 72 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit - Water type: Soft to hard Recommended Aquatic Arts Tank Mates: Non-aggressive fish (such as Danios or Guppies), dwarf shrimp (such as Red Cherry Shrimp, Blue Velvet Shrimp, Amano Shrimp, etc.). Cichlids, crayfish, and other invertebrates and fish can be aggressive towards these crabs and should not be kept in the same tank. Additional Notes: Thai Micro Crabs need hiding places such as caves or plant cover (such as java moss, green cabomba, and dwarf hairgrass). They tend to make frequent escape attempts, so it is best to keep them in an aquarium with a cover.

One died a few days after getting in the tank, but it was slower than the rest to begin with so I think it was just a weaker crab. I got a wide variety of sizes from little peas to big honkers, I actually had to double check one wasn’t accidentally a Pom Pom crab from the size of it. They’re doing great, they come out a lot and I see them making their way through the tank day and night. Pro tip for those who say they never see them, turn off all your lights and grab a red pen light, you’ll see them everywhere! I’m really considering a second order for a different tank. I’m extremely satisfied.

**Q: Can the crabs be kept In a tank with African cichlids if I set them up enough places to hide?**
A: He'll no

**Q: can i keep these with cajun dwarf crayfish**
A: Wouldn't advise it as they can become prey.

**Q: Will they breed in the aquarium?**
A: I have had them breed, and two released a cloud of larvae into the tank.  But the larvae all died fairly quickly.  From what I read, a guess is that they are not holding them long enough to develop as far as they need to before releasing.  Breeding them in a home aquarium is not something people are doing successfully.

**Q: Are these captive bred or wild caught?**
A: I believe they are wild caught as I believe they need some brackish water to complete their various cycles. As far as I have read so fair no one in the USA has successfully bred them yet, but I could be wrong.

I’m SO happy with my order! I ordered 10 micro crabs and they sent me 12! One died a few days after getting in the tank, but it was slower than the rest to begin with so I think it was just a weaker crab. I got a wide variety of sizes from little peas to big honkers, I actually had to double check one wasn’t accidentally a Pom Pom crab from the size of it. They’re doing great, they come out a lot and I see them making their way through the tank day and night. Pro tip for those who say they never see them, turn off all your lights and grab a red pen light, you’ll see them everywhere! I’m really considering a second order for a different tank. I’m extremely satisfied.
