Great Notebook !!!
Bought this Asus notebook with Christmas money and gift card. I have always liked Windows 7 and was apprehensive about Windows 8. As soon as I got this machine I did the free Windows 8.1 upgrade. Now I really appreciate the new operating system that was designed for all the new mobile devices. This notebook is light, has a very responsive and brilliant touch screen. I have big hands so I also like the nice full keyboard. For it's size the sound quality is adequate and I enjoy the extra hard drive storage space that is hard to find in just a tablet. This is my first Asus product that I have owned and overall I am very happy with the quality and the price was right. I give it a 5 star rating.

Good for the Value
I purchased this for my company's trade show booth do online demos, etc.. Here are my pros and cons:PROS:1. Nice size, small and compact2. Crisp, clear display3. Lots of RAM4. Stylish5. Plenty of access ports, HDMI, USB, etc.6. Nice design and overall layoutCONS:1. Windows (not an ASUS issue)2. Keys feel cheap3. Mousepad feels flimsy and slow response4. Heavy for the size, my ASUS Seashell is much lighter5. Battery life is not long unless I have a defective batteryOverall, it's a nice little laptop for the money if you don't want to spend a lot of $$. I am mainly a Mac user now and there is a huge difference, but at 4x or more the cost :)

Small Package, but outperforms available personal laptops
I purchased this laptop to replace my Toshiba Satellite P505D-8000. It was a multimedia machine. look up the specs, but I bought this little guy to work on school while at work. Since the toshiba only got 45 mins of batttery life so the 3-4 hours of life that I have gotten is most impressive. Here is some real life battery drain. Try running the back up of a 320gb HDD through the usb3.0 port, then plug in an external disk drive to rip cd's to the itunes library while applying updates and run Left for Dead 2 at 32~37 fps with two hours up time without charger. granted its not 7-9 hours of what its brothers and sisters that also cost 2-3 times what this little guy costs, you get your moneys worth in regards to the battery. The processor runs as well or on the same level as my previous i3 in a separate laptop. its quick and get rid of the heat easily. I will be purchasing one of these to give to my wife as she is now using this and enjoys how easily she can use it. Word to the wise. upgrade to 8.1 if at all possible. Win8 was a mess and 8.1 fixes alot of mis-steps.

Works well
Love the speed, the size, the sensitivity of the touch screen. One of the best laptop keyboards I've ever worked with. Doesn't slow down my 107 wpm at all. Wish it had a better battery life (about 2 hours) and that it didn't have smart gesture on the touch pad. Who needs it with the touch screen anyway? All it does is cause me to try to move across the screen and accidentally bring up the home menu around half a dozen times or more a day. Other than that, it's a fantastic product and well worth the price.

The size is perfect. The weight is good.
It does get warm/hot on the side where the vent is so you can't really put it on your lap or hold it with left hand.As a layperson who does not know much about computers, only how to use it, it works good, in terms of browsing the net. Fast connection and page loads.Audio sound is decent.Resolution is good.I like the raised keyboard buttons/tabs.The 3 stars is mainly because of the track pad. It drives me bonkers. So sensitive. It keeps switching my screens and cursor goes crazy and all over the place. I tried adjusting the track pad with no success. the control buttons (?) on the track pad are also noisy and sometimes I have to click it more than once or with more pressure for it to work. The track pad sensitivity doesn't apply to only this laptop but in other laptops with windows 8 that I've tried.I hate windows 8.

Very nice unit...Good value for the money
This unit is small, lightweight but still has a good display and is very readable. You wont be doing any desktop publishing, media editing or serious gaming on this unit but for basic office productivity and causal home use it is great. It also is touchscreen and the touch is sensitive (but not overly so as to avoid false inputs). At this juncture the battery life is fine and it can remain in standby mode for several days without discharging. While the lack of a DVD drive can be slightly inconvenient for loading legacy program, if you can live without that or are primarily cloud based you will find this unit a great value.

Gently used = Dead.
Gently used. This was a backup to my primary pc. Motherboard was fried in less than a year. Battery won't hold a charge...can't recalibrate...system won't perform updates…errors out when performing an 'update' to update...wiped and reboot…all to no avail. When I say 'gently used', I literally mean I used this for no more than 10 hours. Notebook was always stored in a room temp, padded bag, away from static or other contaminants. Dead. Despite the attractive price tag, the relatively attractive though economic design, I would not recommend this pc.

Wow, nice notebook for the price!
When I ordered this notebook, I wasn't sure how well it would perform with Windows 8. Boy am I happily surprised! The laptop is running like a champ. It's also light and very portable, almost like a larger netbook, exactly what I wanted. I'm primarily using it for web development on the road so I'm not exactly pushing it to the limit with games and such, but it runs everything I need it to really well. Thanks Asus! Nicely done.Note, first thing I did was uninstall the antivirus trial (mcafee) and games that it came with, and optimize the performance settings. Also I was required to install all updates before the upgrade to Windows 8.1 was available. I'm running Chrome for web browsing and XMBC for a uPnP media client, xampp for a web development server and CodeWriter for editing code (I haven't tried Eclipse on it yet).
