It is a true 9 inches deep and seems to be of very thick gauge steel compared to our old sink. My one complaint if that one of corners was bent due to shipping. It was easily fixed. The unit comes with a gasket that works great and is much nicer then using caulking. All in all with removal of the old sink, and installation of this sink along with a new under sink water filter setup it only took me about an hour to complete. Today is only the 4th day I have had it installed so I could not tell you about longevity of this product. Update: we have had this product installed for just over 9 months and it has been a great sink. Fitting large baking pans and even my grill grates for cleaning has been great. It had developed two small surface rust areas that were easy to take care of with a billow pad or 000 steel wool. I'm am considering buying another in the future for a custom toy hauler I will be building. I would not hesitate to purchase this product again. It fit the measurements as stated in the description, we had to do a little modification due to our countertop set up. Easy to keep clean and the size fits a lot of larger size pans.
