Nothing to me really stands up to shun. They are beautifully handcrafted pieces of art that are scalpel sharp. The handle is comfortable and can be used all day long for various cutting tasks. It holds its edge very well if you take care of it and hone it regularly. These can cost alot more than some other knives but in my opinion they are worth it. I've used the same 8 inch hollow ground shun for over 10 years and it's took a beating. I still use it every day.
