This mask is as good as the originals. The skirt is flared to rest comfortably on the face with an inner lip for an excellent secondary seal. The black neoprene rubber is far better than the clear or black silicone ones that many companies are offering today IMO. I prefer the black skirt over the clear ones because i find the light coming through the clear skirts to be distracting. Maybe the dark surrounding opens up your pupils more and makes the view more enjoyable. I have seen some complain that this mask is too tight, but... the strap is adjustable, so... Many of my older oval masks have begun to decompose which is one of the traits of neoprene - it just goes with the territory. That said, while it's in good shape, Neoprene is far superior to silicone.
